3 Reel Questions

How do you plan and execute your Reels?

When creating a reel, my initial focus is on identifying a compelling theme. I choose a topic that resonates with a wide audience, often selecting a story and colour scheme that evokes relatability. For instance, in the case of my “Winter Days” Reel, I aimed to encapsulate the imagery that comes to mind when thinking of "winter."

How do you determine which places and objects to feature in your Reels?

My personal taste and preferences greatly influencethe selection of places and objects in my Reels. For instance, in this Reel, I was drawn to a location that embodied my desire to visit Paris –a place that exuded a French ambience and featured abundant natural light. When it came to the model's styling and accessories, I collaborated closely with the model, engaging in conversations to ensure alignment with the desired aesthetic.

What are the three key considerations when making a Reel?

The three essential elements I prioritise when filming a Reel are theme selection, location scouting, and artistic expression. I choose a theme and then search for the perfect location that complements the desired atmosphere, preferably with ample sunlight. Finally, I pay careful attention to the visual aspects, including model styling, costumes, and props, ensuring they align harmoniously with the concept to create a cohesive and visually engaging experience.

Words of encouragement

Gabi finds great appreciation in the unique beauty of Reels, which lies in the freedom it provides to practise composition freely. “Filming in a vertical format is not only more enjoyable and convenient, but it also encourages audience engagement on my social media.”
